H is For Heart

Published April 30, 2012 by isisimaginings

It’s the last day of April – already!!  I hope you’ve had a great month.

CB AlphaTag Swap H 2012

Here is my tag for the Chocolate Baroque Alpha Tag Swap.  I used three of Lord Tim’s techniques to make the background; Adirondack inks resist, wrinkle-free distress & spritz & flick.  I used stamps from the CB Texture Fragments collection on each layer & then used Chipped Sapphire DI through the smallest circles on a Crafters’ Workshop mini circles stencil.

The winged heart & the sentiment are from Chocolate Baroque’s Artistic Expressions collection.  I stamped them on t the tag with black Archival, then stamped the heart three times on to scrap card that I covered with Festive Berries DI.  I cut out the hearts & layered them on to the heart on the tag.  I brushed some Perfect Pearls over the tag & spritzed with water to set.

A Trio of Birthday Cards

Published April 25, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, here we are on the last Wednesday in April.  My friend, Jen, arrived from the USA yesterday, so my blog posts will probably be quite infrequent for the next two weeks.  I want to show you three birthday cards today.  The first two were commissions & the third I made for my second goddaughter’s 8th birthday.

This first one was inspired by a canvas I saw in a card making magazine, but I can’t remember which one, it was a few months ago that I saw it.  The patterned papers are from Kaisercraft’s ‘Bonjour’ 6×6 collection.  You’ll recognise Tim Holtz’ bird die, which cut from a lilac coloured Core’dinations scrap & embossed with a Sizzix swirls embossing folder.  I gave the bird a very fancy tail by attaching metal leaf.

I cut the Marianne Design Creatables’ leaf swirl die from three different shades of green cardstock, added some flowers, with a large pearl brad in the centre of the biggest flower, a little wooden ladybird & some adhesive pearls.

Card number 2 was a lot simpler.  The light bulbs are from The Artistic Stamper.  I stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ with Brilliance & covered it with Versamark, then heat embossed with clear EP.

Card number 3 is a gatefold – how did I manage for so long without a scoring board?!  The scalloped circles & lacy circle are Spellbinders dies & the ballerinas Marianne Design Creatables.  The patterned paper on the inside is from my stash, I have it a long time & can’t remember where it’s from.

To give them some sparkle, I covered the ballerinas in Versamark & heat embossed with WOW Sparkle EP.

Thank you for visiting.  Until next time,

12 Tags of 2012–April

Published April 22, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, happy Sunday to you.  Here is my tag for Lord Tim’s 12 tags challenge.  You can see his tag & all the details HERE.  Tim has a brand new website too, you can see it in all its glory HERE.

As with previous months, I don’t have the items that Tim used, so I was improvising again.   I embossed the size 8, manilla tag with his Rays & Checkerboard texture fades, then blended Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Broken China & Chipped Sapphire DIs over the top.

I cut the birds, (TH & PaperArtsy) & the swirl leaf, (Marianne Design Creatables), from Grunge paper & the swirl was embossed with Walnut Stain distress EP.

TH 12Tagsof2012 2

I stained the seam binding with Broken China distress stain & found the key in my stash.  I think my niece gave it to me when she was getting rid of some costume jewellery.

Short & sweet today, blog visitors, thanks for looking.  Until next time,

Those Awkward Men Cards!

Published April 20, 2012 by isisimaginings

I think most of you know what I mean, yes?  Thank goodness for gears, sprockets & Steampunk. Smile  Firstly, I would like to enter this card into two challenges:

Hels’ Sunday Stamper Challenge – Man of the World

Simon Says Stamp & Show – Anything Goes

Are you as shocked as I am that I got this finished before the deadlines??

On to the nitty gritty.  I chose a 6×6 inch white card & decided to make an easel card.  I initially covered the TH Kraft Resist card with Broken China distress stain, but didn’t like the result, so I embossed another piece with the TH Rays texture fade & swiped very lightly over it with Gathered Twigs DI.  The gears are Donna Salazar dies from Spellbinders – cut from Core’dinations TH Distress collection. The hinges are PaperArtsy dies, cut from Grunge paper & embossed with Weathered Wood distress EP.  The Creative Expressions screw brads are from The Artistic Stamper.

I stamped the cars on to Kraft card with Distress embossing ink.  I used Walnut Stain distress EP & black EP.  I got the stamp of the central car from EBay years ago & I can’t remember what company it’s from.  The other car is a TH Visual Artistry stamp.

The rosettes…  Ahh, the rosettes.  They’re the Tim Holtz ones of course, cut from Kraft Resist.  I wanted them for so long, but boy, did I have trouble with them.  I don’t have a hot glue gun, so I tried every adhesive I have to get the rosette shape to STAY.  Thought I had it until this morning when the bigger one fell off.  Grrr.  So, I’ve tried again with Mod Podge, but I am going to have to buy a glue gun.  On top of that, my heat tool died. Sad smile  However, I’ve had it about ten years & it wasn’t an especially expensive one, so I’m not complaining.  Well, only about the inconvenience.  On the plus side, I shall buy a Ranger Heat-It tool, it’s definitely the best I’ve used.

Yesterday, I was at Jennie The Artistic Stamper Boxall’s UTEE class at Pickleberry Crafts in Faversham.  Below is a pic of all the things I made.  We used moulds & cookie cutters, perfect pearls & distress inks & generally had a wonderful time.  And yes, I DO want a Melt Pot.  Anyone like to buy me an early Christmas present?? 🙂

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time,

Love & light

Creative Chemistry 101 Day 10

Published April 18, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, it’s another cold & rainy day here.  We need the rain, so I’m not complaining about that, but it would be so nice to feel warm.  Smile

I forgot that I hadn’t posted my final tags for Day 10 of Lord Tim’s Creative Chemistry 101 class.  I focused on using Distress Stickles on my tags, because they’re another medium that I forget I have.  They give a surface great texture, which of course, you can’t see in the photos, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

TH CC101 Day 10

For this first tag, I put Chipped Sapphire & Walnut Stain distress inks on the smaller of the TH SA Book Plate stamps.  The ‘title’ is from the LPC001 collection from PaperArtsy.  I blended Walnut Stain & Antique Linen distress stickles over the top.

The background for this second tag is very simple, just a few distress stains swiped & splatted here & there.  I stamped the window, (from Chocolate Baroque’s Texture Fragments collection), in coffee Archival & the birds in black Archival.  Before adding the distress stickles, I lightly stamped the paint splat stamp from TH Visual Artistry collection with coffee Archival.

So, two very simple tags, but there are definitely lots of possibilities with Distress Stickles.  I’m not a big fan of glitter, but there is a subtle sheen on these tags that I like.

Thanks for looking, until next time,

9 Is The Number………

Published April 14, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, I’m against the clock this evening, so I want to get this post written asap.

The artful wonder that is Hels Sheridan is celebrating 200 weeks of her Sunday Stamper challenge – you can see her 200th post HERE.  Appropriately, she chose NUMBERS as the SS theme.  I promised myself I would take part, but typically, I spent all week wondering what I was going to do & of course, I ran out of time.  The deadline is 9pm tonight.  My plan was to make a canvas, but I ended up using a jumbo tag.  Maybe it will end up on a canvas one day…..

To make the background I used Lord Tim’s wrinkle free distress & blended spritz & flick techniques.  LOVE these techniques.  Distress ink used: Broken China, Crushed Olive, Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon.  I used second generation stamping with coffee Archival ink so that the images would be quite faint.  I used Chipped Sapphire through a numbers stencil, choosing ‘9’ as it’s my birthdate.  I then spritzed the tag with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.

I covered a piece of glossy card with alcohol inks – Citrus, Butterscotch, Sunshine Yellow & Gold mixative.  I stamped the goddess & the feathers – from the Lynne Perella Collection LPC007 from PaperArtsy –  with coffee Archival again & cut them out.  I stamped the heart on white scrap card with raspberry Adirondack ink, cut it out & attached it with a foam pad, then covered it in Glossy Accents.

From this point on, the tag really made itself.  I didn’t have any idea what I wanted.  What I thought I wanted, was a big ‘9’ somewhere, as well as a quote or sentiment of some sort.  But once I’d added the trimmings at the top & the the bling, (junk jewellery & Idea-ology findings), the tag felt finished.  If it does end up as part of a bigger piece, I’ll add some words to the canvas.

That’s it, thanks for looking, I’ll be back soon.

Love & light.

Creative Chemistry 101…Day 9

Published April 7, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello blog visitors, how are you this cold, grey Saturday evening?  It’s definitely not Spring weather.

Here are my tags for day 9 of Creative Chemistry 101.  Day 9 was all about Perfect Pearls & you will have to take my word for it; these tags are GLEAMING with sparkly colour.  I tried very hard to get good photos, but no joy.

The middle one of these three tags came first.  I put various colours of Distress inks onto my craft sheet, spritzed them water & swiped the tag other the other, drying after each swipe.  The other two tags mopped up the ink that was left over.  The stamps are PaperArtsy’s HP1107 & Lynne Perella Collection 001.

I’m thinking of making some sort of tag book out of these three.

TH CC101 Day 9 2a

TH CC101 Day 9 2c

I like the vintagey, distressed appearance of this tag; such a great effect caused only by distress inks, perfect pearls & water.  I stamped the images from the Royal Script set of Tim Holtz stamps for Stampers Anonymous in Aged Mahogany DI.

That is all for today.  Thanks for looking.  Until next time,

Creative Chemistry 101…..Day 8

Published April 4, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Wednesday blog visitors.  I have numb fingers this morning.  After last week’s beautiful, warm, Spring weather. it has turned very cold & according to the weather peeps, snow is heading our way.  Scotland & the north of England have already had quite a downfall.  And there was I, hoping to spend some time in the garden over the Easter weekend.

I took the last few days off from crafting & blogging, had other things to do & think about.  As a result, I’m even further behind with my posts, but never mind, it’s not a race.

TH CC101 Day 8

Paint dabber resist

My tags today are from Day 8 of Tim’s Creative Chemistry 101 class.  Day 8 was all about paint, especially Crackle paint.  On my dress form tag, I went overboard with the Tattered Rose CP.  Tim did say to put on a good amount, but I ended up covering almost the entire tag, leaving not much room for anything else.  Will know better next time.

TH CC101 Day 8 2

                                   Crackle paint resist

My favourite technique from this class was using Clear Rock Candy Crackle paint.  I think these flowers look lovely – in the close up pic I hope you can see the shine from the rock candy.

TH CC101 Day 8 3

To fill the centre I sprinkles some Ranger Beadazzles onto a dome of Glossy Accents.  The die is a Basic Grey flower from Sizzix.

I’m thinking of using this tag as a topper on another project, possibly a canvas.

TH CC 101 Day 8 4

Thank you for visiting, I hope to be back tomorrow with Days 9 & 10.  Until then,

Love & light
