Chocolate Baroque Tag Swap N & O

Published August 22, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Wednesday to you.  I have two more tags to show you today, continuing the Chocolate Baroque tag swap that has been running since January.  Sometimes, it has been quite difficult coming up with ideas & my ‘N’ tag is a case in point.   I don’t have a lot of CB stamps, so I have to make do with what I have.  I spent weeks thinking about it & all I came up with was ‘nature’ & when I found the quote by Shakespeare I decided to go ahead.

I left the background very simple, just using Adirondack inks as a resist under distress inks.  I made a background by stamping some of the Texture Fragments stamps onto white cardstock, stamped the butterflies from the Patchwork Butterfly collection on top & heat embossed with gold EP.  I cut them out & attached them to the tag with silicon glue.

This ‘Ophelia’ stamp is the very first stamp I bought from Chocolate Baroque when I discovered them a few years ago.  I stamped her on tissue paper with black Archival & then painted on the reverse with acrylic paints.  I painted white acrylic paint over the colour paints & used that to attach the tissue paper to the tag.

I created the tag background by stamping a texture fragments stamp with Versamark & embossing with white EP.  Then I blended Salty Ocean & Mowed Lawn distress inks over the embossed  tag.  The quote is by Shakespeare – again.  I love Shakespeare!!  The flowers are a Crealies die.

I’d like to leave you with a pic of a section of a little wall-hanging I made for  If you would like to see the entire piece, you will fnd it HERE .

Thanks for looking, until next time,

Chocolate Baroque Tag Swap, L & M

Published August 20, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Monday, one & all.  It is SO hot here in the South-East & has been since Friday.  However, as I type there is a nice breeze coming in the window, I’m hoping it gets stronger & cools down the house before I go to bed.

Here are two of my tags for the Chocolate Baroque alpha tag swap.  I used the  Steampunkery & the Steampunk Travel sets on both tags.

The ‘L’ tag has a little shrink plastic charm that I coloured with Promarkers.

I stamped the little winged clock onto the ‘M’ tag, stamped it again onto gloss card that I had coloured with alcohol inks, then cut it out & attached it to the tag with 3-D foam.

Short & sweet today, thanks for looking.  Until next time,

Honour The Earth

My poor blog, how I have neglected you!  Not intentionally, but it certainly feels as if someone hit the fast forward button at the beginning of July & all of a sudden I found myself in mid-August.  It’s time to get the show back on the road, so without further ado……..

Earlier this year, I found, via Facebook, the blog, Birdnuts Mixed Media & its writer, Denise Phillips.  Denise is a hugely talented Canadian artist & her blog is a wonderland of ATCs, journal pages & mixed media creations.  Every month she holds an ATC swap & for months I would think about taking part & then chicken out.  But in July, the theme was ‘Nature’ & I had an idea almost immediately.

I covered a sturdy piece of cardboard with Terra paste a few mm’s thick & stamped into it with the Artistic Stamper swirl stamp, which was a freebie with the June 2012 edition of Craft Stamper magazine & which I had misted lightly with water first.  If you attempt this, always ensure you clean your stamp immediately afterwards, the last thing you want is for the Terra to dry on the stamp.

When the paste had dried I spritzed the lightest colours of Dylusions onto it.  This was definitely a “what if I…?” moment & when the colours had dried the background looked okay, but wasn’t anything special & was still very dark.  Then I had another idea & spritzed Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls mist over the top.  Eureka!  This reactivated the Dylusions instantly & really made  the background much more interesting. To finish I rubbed tiny amounts of Inka Gold blue & gold paints on the raised areas.

I’ve had these lizard & birds stamps in my stash for so long that I can’t remember where I got them from, it might have been from that well-known auction site.  I stamped them with black Archival onto a piece  of white card that I had already prepared with Dylusions & stencils.  I highlighted the birds with a white Sakura pen & the lizard with a shimmer pen. The quote is from a Native American prayer & I stamped it onto scraps I had left over from the images.

That’s it for today, I hope I haven’t rambled on for too long.  Back tomorrow, I hope.  Thanks for visiting.
