Utterly Dylusioned

Published September 26, 2012 by isisimaginings

And I love it!

Greetings, blog visitors, hope you’re having a good week so far.  I’m taking a slight risk, showing you this card today.  Lisa’s birthday is not until Saturday, but as far as I know, she doesn’t look at my blog, so I think I’ll get away with it.

I’ve been playing with the Dylusions sprays since I bought them at the Craft Barn in July & like everyone else who’s used them, I completely love them.  The colours are gorgeous & I have yet to find a combination I don’t like.

I started this background by misting the paper with water & then sprayed the inks on top.  I used Bubblegum Pink, Lemon Zest, Pure Sunshine  & Vibrant Turquoise.

After drying with a heat tool I put the clouds stencil on top & spritzed water through it, love how the water ‘bleaches’ out the colour.

The next step was to spray London Blue through a swiss dot stencil.

Then decide on a layout with the Curious Corrin & Further Round The Edge sets of Dylusions stamps.

2012-09-06 002

I stamped Corrin twice onto white card, used the sprays to paint each image, then paper pieced her hair, dress & boots.  I also used a gold pearl pen in the centre of the circles & Glossy Accents on the boots.

I continued building the background by stamping the leaves a number of times, colouring them with London Blue, Vibrant Turquoise & Black Marble.  The flags on the bottom were stamped onto one of my Dylusions practice pages, cut out & attached to the background with foam pads.

That’s pretty much it, other than adding various embellishments from my stash & some highlights with a white gel pen.

There are many, much better examples of the Dylusions products out there in internet land, not least by the goddess that is Dyan Reaveley herself, but I think I did ok for my first proper attempt.  Now I’m hoping Lisa like it.

I’ve been using the sprays a lot since I made this card, so I’ll show more of my projects in the coming weeks.

Thanks for looking today.  Until next time,

Chocolate Baroque Tag Swap Rainbow

Published September 24, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Monday, blog visitors, I hope you had a great weekend.  I would like to show you my R tag for the year long Chocolate Baroque alphabet tag swap.

CB tag swap 12 R

Unusually, I knew before I started what I wanted to do.  The tag below is the result & I did not like it at all.  Too much embossing, the blocks of colour were wrong & the clouds had virtually disappeared.

2012-08-02 002

Then the Muse blessed me with inspiration.  I put ‘Stream’ Adirondack ink on the stencil, put a tag on top & rolled a brayer over it to transfer the ink from the stencil to the tag.

The next step was to blend Distress inks over the clouds.  I used:

  • Festive Berries
  • Squeezed Lemonade
  • Mowed Lawn
  • Salty Ocean
  • Seedless Preserves

To make raindrops I debossed the tag with a Dots Trio (Cuttlebug?) embossing folder & filled the spaces with Glossy Accents & a slight sprinkling of glitter.

2012-08-07 001

The balloon & the boot are from Chocolate Baroque’s Steampunk Travel A5 set.  I coloured the balloon with watercolour pens, then added Crackle Accents.  When it dried some of the cracks were too big, so I filled the gaps with Glossy Accents.

2012-08-09 004

I stamped the boot onto white card with Versamark, added silver EP & heat set, then I cut it out.  The boot was coloured with Festive Berries DI & the wings with Squeezed Lemonade – I stamped them again, cut them out & attached them to the boot with red brads.

I found the quote online & stamped it with a Hampton Art mini alphabet set on a scrap of card I had sprayed with Dylusions.

Thank you for looking.  Until next time,

Chocolate Baroque Tag Swap P and Q

Published September 22, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Autumn Equinox, blog visitors.  Autumn officially starts today & that means we shall have fewer daylight hours for the next six months.  Oh joy.

Thank you to everyone who visited my blog in the last few days & left such nice comments on my Borg Raven tag.  I’m usually very critical of my projects, but I love how that tag turned out.

Today I thought I’d show you two more of the Alphabet tags I made for the Chocolate Baroque swap.  I’ve already sent off the S & T tags, which means there are only six tags to make before the end of the swap.

Here is my P for Pop Art tag & it is a slight cheat.  Some of you will immediately recognise the layout.  It’s Lord Tim’s July tag in his 12 Tags of 2012 series & you can see his tag HERE.  When I saw his, I immediately thought of pop art, so I thought I’d use it for the CB swap.  The flying telephone & the greeting are from the CB Steampunk Travel set of unmounted stamps.  The 16 refers to P being the sixteenth letter of the alphabet & sixteenth tag in the series.

Here is my Q tag.  Q for Quartz & Quality Time.  I made this background ages ago & then couldn’t think what to do with it.  I put gesso through a stencil, left it to dry, then covered it with Clear Rock Candy crackle paint.  When that was dry I blended the TH Spring distress inks over the top, pushing down had so that the inks went into the cracks.  I have a memory of Anita of the Artful Maven Haven blog showing this technique, but I’ve gone back through her posts for the last three or four months & can’t see it.  So, Anita, if you read this, perhaps you could send me the link & I will edit this post to include it?  Thanks.

CB tag swap 12 Q

I had already decided on Quality Time as the theme when I saw a picture of a piece of smoky quartz online somewhere &I thought I’d have a go at creating my own ‘quartz’.  I stamped the clock & flowers stamp from the Punky Romance A4 set with Versamark ink, then covered it with a mix of a yellow embossing powder & Weathered Wood Distress EP & heat set.  Then I blended Frayed Burlap distress ink on top, wiped it off the embossed areas & cut out the entire piece.  Added some gears, brads, adhesive gems & a spinner & the tag was finished.

That’s all for today, thanks for looking.  Until next time,

12 Tags of 2012…………. September

Published September 20, 2012 by isisimaginings

Yes, I know.  I am a bad, bad blogger & when I’ve finished this post, I shall go and stand in the corner for an hour.  Some of you may know that I also write for the Lisa B Designs Inspiration blog for & make cards & other projects too.  Along with everything else, it means there aren’t enough hours in the day.

Anyway, let’s get to the point of this post.  This is my tag for Tim Holtz’ 12 Tags of 2012 this month.  You can see Tim’s tag & tutorial HERE.  I LOVED making this. The metal background looks amazing & I had great fun making the faux rivets, etc..

TH 12 Tags 2012 Sept

I decided on a Halloween theme because I don’t have the typewriter die Tim used.  But I do have the Scaredy Cat & Raven die.  So, this is the Borg Raven, my tribute to two Star Trek series – The Next Generation & Voyager.  Yes, I AM a sci-fi nerd!

2012-09-18 007

To colour the tag I used Eggplant, Mushroom & Stonewashed alcohol inks.  The saying is from the ‘Boo’ set of stamps by Chocolate Baroque.

2012-09-18 005

That’s it.  What do you think?  I’m so pleased I managed to get this tag made, as I didn’t make one for August.  I couldn’t figure how to as I didn’t have anything that Tim used, but now  I may have an idea.

Thank you for looking, I promise I’ll be back soon – I have LOTS to show you.
