Xtreme Xmas

Published November 27, 2012 by isisimaginings

Can you guess what this post is about??  Yep, it’s my X tag for the Chocolate Baroque tag swap & after failing miserably to come up with an idea using ‘xylophone’, ‘xylonite’, or ‘xanthic’, I gave in & made a Christmas tag & piled a load of stuff on it.

CB Swap 12 X b

The first step was cutting a size eight tag from a piece of CB patterned paper, then stamping on it with the (retired) Winter Wonderland set & embossing with gold EP.  I decided that I would put the tag on to a tag cut from a piece of dark green core’dinations, so I cut it down slightly.

CB SWap 12 X d

The owls are from the Fat Robin stamp set, I die cut the cardstock after stamping, edged it with Bundled Sage & Evergreen Bough distress inks & layered it onto a piece of lilac coloured core’dinations.

CB Swap 12 X a

I cut lots of flowers from core’dinations scraps & the same patterned paper I’d used for the tag, using a Crealies die, mixed & matched them & attached to the tag with brads.  By the way, the large pearl brad in the centre of the ribbon is from Hobby House.

To finish I added lots of glitter & adhesive gems.

CB Swap 12 X

I’m sure the other members of the swap will have come up with great ideas for their X tag, but I’m happy with this & hopefully, the recipient won’t feel like I cheated.

Thanks for looking & once again, thank you for the very kind comments on my previous efforts.  Until next time,

Love & light.

Winter Wonderland

Published November 22, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Thursday, blog visitors & a very happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.

I’ve been very busy working on projects for both myself & the Lisa B Designs blog.  I’m going to keep this post brief & just show you my ‘W’ tag for the Chocolate Baroque Alphabet tag swap.

I chose the words from the retired CB Winter Wonderland stamp set & decided to go for a white tag.

CB Swap 12 W b

I wanted the tag to have some depth, but I didn’t want to add lots of detail, so I cut the tag from a piece of linen textured cardstock & embossed it with a snowflake embossing folder.

The stamps from the Fat Robin set were stamped with Versamark on to white card, covered with WOW Clear Sparkle EP & heat set.  I finished with a few red adhesive gems & two silver snowflakes

Twelve Tags of 2012

Published November 16, 2012 by isisimaginings

Evening!  I’m typing with one hand while nursing a mug of tea with the other – it’s cold & foggy here.

A very speedy post tonight to show you my take on Lord Tim’s November tag.  You can see his gorgeous tag HERE.  Again, I didn’t have the items Tim used, so I followed all his techniques to make a Christmas tag.

TH 12 Tags Nov 12

I used Broken China, Dusty Concord & Brushed Pewter Distress stains & the stamps are Chocolate Baroque.  The large snowflake is also from CB, it was the freebie stamp with the December issue of Craft Stamper magazine.  The die cut flourish is from Marianne Design Creatables.

That’s it, goodnight!  Until next time,

Victorian Velvet

Published November 13, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  A huge thank you for all the kind comments on my ‘U’ tag, I’m glad you liked it.

After giving me that idea, the Muse abandoned me for someone else & left me to come up with an idea for my ‘V’ tag, all on my own.  I’m interested in Victorian architecture & of course, there is an inkpad called Victorian Velvet, so I put the two together & came up with this.

CB Swap V

I stamped the window on to the tag with coffee Archival, blended Victorian Velvet DI over it, dry embossed with a crackle folder & added more Victorian Velvet over that.  I edged the tag with Walnut Stain DI.  I found the PaperArtsy cameo in my stash, so that went on to the window.

That’s it, one very simple tag.  Thank you for visiting my blog.

Unicycling on Uranus

Published November 9, 2012 by isisimaginings

Happy Friday to everyone.  Did the title of this blog post grab your attention?  It’s the title of my ‘U’ tag for the Chocolate Baroque Alpha Tag Swap.  All of us taking part knew the final six letters of the alphabet would prove a serious challenge & so it proved.

When it came to this tag, I had no clue what to do, until, for some bizarre reason, the words “unicycling on Uranus” popped into my head.  Even more bizarre, I knew instantly what I was going to do.

I wanted a simple background, but I still wanted the tag to have some texture, so I used Distress inks – Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean – but didn’t blend for a smooth finish.

CB Swap U a

To make the poles I used Evergreen Bough & Iced Spruce DIs, then embossed a semicircle at the bottom with silver EP.  Next, I flicked water onto the tag & very quickly put Fran’tage Cool Aqua EP on top & heat set.

CB Swap U b

The next step was the unicycle.  I stamped the winged bicycle from the CB Steampunkery set onto a piece of card that I’d also coloured with the DIs & embossed with the Fran’tage EP, cut it out & cut off the handlebars & the wings.  I cut in to the wings to feather them & added a metal wing & a gear for more dimension.

CB Swap U c

And here is the finished tag.  What do you think?  It’s quite silly, but it makes me smile & my swap partner is happy with it.

Inspiration Provided By

Evening, lovely blog visiting peeps, I hope you’re all well.  I’ve got a birthday card to show you tonight.

Gianna B'day 12 b

This card was inspired by two of my crafting sheroes; Leandra ‘PaperArtsy’ Franich & Linda ‘Yours Artfully’ Brown.  Leandra & Lin are well known to any UK crafter who attended the craft shows, their stand is always crowded with people eager to see the new techniques they always seem to come up with.  PaperArtsy products are amazing; cool stamps, the brilliant Fresco Finish paints to name just two.

Lin has retired from her shop, but she is still teaches classes at the Bead Scene in Pottersbury, outside Milton Keynes & she demonstrates fantastic techniques on her blog.  My card was inspired by THIS post.

I embossed a piece of black cardstock – see the crease?  Caused by the Big Shot.  Love it.  Then I mixed FF Chocolate Pudding & Beach Hut paints & layered the paint onto the card with a piece of cut & dry foam.  I added lots of paint, drying after each layer, the card got really textured & almost metallic to the touch.

Ganna B'day 12 d

I added more Beach Hut & then the Treasure Gold, which is wonderful.  The photos do not do it justice, it adds the most amazing sheen to virtually any surface.  If you don’t have it in your stash, you NEED it.  And it comes in gorgeous colours.  I only have Spanish Topaz at the moment, but I’m saving my pennies to buy more.

Gianna B'day 12 a

This is a stamp from one of the PaperArtsy stamp sets by Lynne Perella.  I stamped onto the Crackly paper & painted on the reverse with the FF paints.  LOVE!!

The hinges were cut from a PaperArtsy die & painted as per the black cardstock.

And here’s the finished card, I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for looking, until next time,

Mindful Writing Day

Published November 1, 2012 by isisimaginings

Hello!  You might remember my post yesterday about & small stones.  I promised myself I would take part, so first thing this morning I took some time to notice what was around me & this is my small stone………

Between the red roof & the pearl grey sky, a sliver of blue sky holds the promise of a beautiful day.

A skein of Canada geese herald its coming, as they answer the siren call of the nearby lakes.

I must say, the geese fly over my house every morning & evening, but this morning they timed their flypast perfectly.

And I hereby challenge myself to write more small stones.
