Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Week 8

Published November 30, 2013 by isisimaginings

*This is a scheduled post. I will add my link to the Funkie Junkie blog tomorrow.*

I’m very behind with my Funkie Junkie inspired Christmas cards, too much to do & not enough time. This is my card for week 8, you can see Linda’s gorgeous tag here. I was inspired by her use of the Father Christmas image, her background & the label with the bell.

I stamped around the border of a piece of patterned paper & embossed it with clear embossing powder, on top I added White Fire treasure gold. The greeting is a freebie stamp. I added some second & third generation stamping with Potting Soil Archival ink. I gave the image, (from My Mind’s Eye) a little texture with some Antique Linen distress stickles.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique sponsors the Funkie Junkie challenge & all the details can be found here.

Thanks for looking & for all the kind comments. See you next time.

12 Tags of 2013 November

Goodness, I’ve left this very late & it’s not as good as it should be, but I’m out of time, so here is my take on Tim’s November tag. Tim’s tag is fantastic, you can see it HERE.

I first embossed with WOW’s Clear Sparkle embossing powder, but it turned green on the black card – which was weird.

Then I used clear EP. Not sure why I didn’t use white, brain obviously not in gear.

NOW I used white embossing powder!

I cut out sections & built up the layers with foam pads, then added details with a white pen. I used one of Tim’s adage tickets with a length of ribbon & layered the black card onto a piece of Basic Grey patterned paper.

Hello crafters, it’s been a while, hope you’re all well. My friend Jen is visiting me from the USA & I thought I’d show you the lovely goodies she brought me. She tells me I have too much crafting stuff & then she brings me this little lot…………… (Am I complaining? What do you think???)

Firstly, from her late mother’s sewing box, a treasure trove of buttons, yarns, threads & trims……

A selection of gorgeous washi tapes………

Copper coloured resin shapes & a fab ruler stamp……..

Seriously gorgeous things by 7 Gypsies, including canvas & burlap ATCs.

And then…… Be still my heart. Lots of lovely Tim Holtz goodies……

Dies! Trims! A washi tape dispenser!

And last, but by no means least………. Four of Tim’s Layering Stencils!!!!! Swoon!!

A enormously huge thank you to Jen for all of this fabulousness, I’m looking forward to playing with it.

I’ll be back soon with some new projects. Thanks for looking.

Sunday at The Craft Barn

Published November 17, 2013 by isisimaginings

Today I had a wonderful time at Neil Walker’s ‘Pandora’s Box’ class at The Craft Barn. It was my first visit since the Craft Barn moved to their new premises from Lingfield & I was very impressed. It’s a much more comfortable space, with plenty of room to move around & the classroom is great. And the farm shop opposite is like an Aladdin’s cave full of treasures – and not just of the edible variety.

That’s my friend Lisa, of Lisa B Designs, I didn’t realise she was there when I took the photo. We’ve been trying to attend one of Neil’s classes since the start of the year, so it was fantastic to finally make it.

Work in progress; lots & lots of lovely texture.

The finished box, I need to photograph it in daylight at some point.. I used Elephant, London night, South Pacific & French Roast frescos & finished with Sapphire & Silver treasure gold.

Thanks so much to Neil for a great class, to everyone at The Craft Barn & to Lisa.

See you next time.

Gift Tags for Darcy

Published November 16, 2013 by isisimaginings

Hello, I hope everyone’s having a great weekend so far. There are lots of photos in tonight’s post, feel free to ignore the waffle in between.

On her excellent blog this week Darcy challenged us to make Christmas gift tags, using mostly one stamp, preferably from PaperArtsy. I don’t have any of their Christmas stamps, so I chose the large heart from Darcy’s first PA stamp set & got to work.

Up first, gold embossing & painting with London Bus fresco paint.

Next, stamping the swirl from the top of the heart with Red Geranium Archival ink.

Covering a kraft scalloped circle with Vintage Photo distress stickles, Antique Linen distress ink,  Poppy Promarker & adhesive pearls on the heart.

London Bus fresco, Crackle Glaze & Snowflake fresco.

Heart stamped with Red Geranium & embossed with clear EP.

Kraft card. Heart painted with Snowflake, snowflake die cut from card painted with London Bus.

Number five. I used a craft knife to cut out the heart, initially stamped with Potting shed Archival. Broken China distress stickles & Glossy Accents to embellish, layered on to patterned paper.

And finally. Scalloped circle painted with Spanish Mulberry, Pumpkin Soup & Tinned Peas. Snowflake fresco applied through Dylusions stencil & splatters made with watered down Little Black Dress fresco. Heart stamped on to card painted with Spanish Mulberry.

All six gift tags. The banners are from a Tim Holtz die, the greeting was a freebie stamp.

Thanks to Darcy for getting my brain working – not easy at the best of times.

Tomorrow I am attending Neil Walker’s Pandora’s Box class at The Craft Barn, so I might be back tomorrow night to tell you about it. Have a great Sunday.

Inspired by Joanne Wardle

Published November 15, 2013 by isisimaginings

Greetings blog visitors, I hope you’re having a great Friday. I’ve got a growing mountain of Christmas projects in progress, but I thought I’d take a break this evening & make a few cards for the PaperArtsy challenge.

Joanne Wardle was back on the PA blog with her clean, classy & super effective cards. She used Jo Firth-Young’s Christmas stamps, none of which I have – yet – so I had to come up with something else.

These are my cards for Day 1. I had no idea what to do until I saw my set of Dylusions Christmas words stamps & instantly thought of pairing them with the mini PA head stamp (quite probably my favourite PA stamp ever). The circles are from JoFy set 09  & I used Tinned Peas & London Bus frescos, as Joanne did. I’ve got to admit, these cards make me smile.

Day 2

I used colouring pencils on kraft card, with stamps from The Artistic Stamper & a freebie from a magazine. The kraft card was ribbed so the images weren’t perfect, therefore I decorated an envelope as well. The greeting is a Chocolate Baroque stamp.

Day 3

I decided the tiny heart from Darcy Wilkinson’s first PA set would make a great Christmas tree light & I think it worked. I even dragged out my light box for this card, it’s a pity the photo doesn’t show the embossing.

To see Joanne’s fantastic cards, just click on the links. Huge thanks to her for the inspiration, for getting me using my watercolour pencils & most importantly, teaching me not to be afraid to leave lots of white space on my projects.

I’m hoping to be back tomorrow with something for Darcy’s challenge. Until then,

Love & light.

The Funkie Junkie Christmas Challenge Week Seven

Published November 11, 2013 by isisimaginings

Hello, happy Monday. Here’s my take on Linda’s beautiful tag for week 7, which you can see HERE. I loved the textured leaves & the background so I started with those, then built the rest of the card around them.

FunkieJunkie 12 Tags Wk 7

I dry embossed a piece of white card stock, covered it with with Vintage Photo distress ink & heat set it with clear embossing powder & a sprinkle of sparkly embossing powder.

The snowflakes are cut from Joy Craft dies, the letters from a Sizzix die, the tag is a scrap of My Mind’s Eye patterned paper.

For the leaves, I stuck a piece of card to a double-sided adhesive sheet, cut from the Tim Holtz Tattered Pinecone die & added Stampendous Frantage bronze Crushed Glass glitter.

The Funkie Junkie Challenge Week Six

Published November 10, 2013 by isisimaginings

Evening, here’s my card for week 6 – halfway there! – of the FJ 12 Tags of Christmas challenge.

I’ve followed Linda’s layout & used My Mind’s Eye die cuts that I’ve had in my stash for years & patterned papers from Basic Grey.

FunkieJunkie 12 Tags 13 Wk 6

I cut the numbers from a Sizzix set of dies, layering a few to build them up & adding Crackle Accents on top. The little birds on the tree are from a Memory Box die.

I covered the tree with Antique Linen distress stickles & the pot with Glossy Accents.

The stamping around the edge of the card (just seen) is from a retired Chocolate Baroque stamp.

A Wonderful Surprise

Published November 10, 2013 by isisimaginings

Happy Sunday to one & all, a big thank you to everyone who commented on my scheduled posts earlier in the week, I’m slowly getting back to normal after my week off. I’m watching the fabulous Hels Sheridan on Create and Craft at the moment, so I thought I’d use the time to share something I received a few days ago.

It’s not often I’m lost for words, but my gast was well & truly flabbered when I saw what was inside this gorgeous envelope. Being slightly slow on the uptake, it took me a moment to realise how the envelope was decorated – with Darcy Wilkinson’s Eclectica 01 & 02 stamps from PaperArtsy & lots of fab doodling. Love!

Inside the envelope a lovely card & a fabric bag.

And inside the bag……………………….

A beautiful handmade watch necklace from my Twitter friend, @SezzieD, aka Sarah. I had given her a few blog tips & as a thank you she made the necklace for me.

I love it so much!

A huge thank you to Sarah for this wonderful, unexpected surprise. I shall treasure it & wear it with pride.

Until next time, love & light.
