Good morning, yesterday was the birthday of another Twitter friend, the very lovely Emma, so here’s the card I made for her.
Brayered these FF paints onto watercolour card first…………..
Mixed Vintage Lace & Irish Cream FF & stamped with the rectangle stamp from EEV02 by Ellen Vargo for PaperArtsy…………..
Mixed Nougat & Mocha Mousse FF & stamped with the bubble wrap stamp from EEV06…………….
And then I forgot to take more photographs. I mixed a dot of Old Gold FF with FF Gloss Glaze & painted that over the stamped layers. Then I used Ice Blue & Pea Coat FF through PaperArtsy stencils ELB02 & JOFY007 & added stamping – EEV05, black gesso bottle cap circles & Old Gold FF lines with an old gift card………….
I added white accents to the poppy pods with a gel pen, applied white gesso through the PA stencil ELB001 & three circles punched out of scrap white card…………..
Once again, happy birthday Emma, I hope you had a lovely day.
Evening, here’s another birthday card. Before Christmas I took a Saturday off from crafting & went, with my friend Lisa, to one of Eileen Godwin’s workshops in All Hallows, Kent. Eileen is huge fun, her workshops are very relaxed; she shows the projects, demoes the techniques & then you can follow them, or do your own thing. If Eileen is new to you, check out her blog; Eileen’s Crafty Zone, she makes gorgeous cards.
True to form, I ended up with just one finished card, but it’s a big one – 8×8……..
The background is Brusho colours, the stamps are all Designs by Ryn – I NEED these!! – & the stencil is Wendy Vecchi’s Lovely Large Flower. I used Black Soot for the flower & it wasn’t dark enough, so I added the white dots, replaced the stencil & applied embossing ink through it, then heat set with clear embossing powder. The greeting is from PaperArtsy JOFY Collection 11.
Thanks for looking, see you next time.
Last Sunday I went to Karen Clare’s Brusho Box workshop in Swanley, Kent. Karen is on the Lisa B Designs DT with me & she is one of the loveliest people you could hope to meet, she’s also super talented. She runs monthly workshops, so if you’re interested, follow her blog or find her on Facebook.
The MDF box was from Candy Box Crafts.
I started the background at the workshop, but most of it was done this weekend, as last week I had no idea what I was going to do.
All the colouring & stencilling was done with Brusho colours. Initially I wasn’t going to add any texture, but I’ve been using gold embossing paste through stencils on other projects & liked it, so on it went.
I had to include Stampotique’s Moth Fab of course & I added used Tim Holtz bird & quote stamps. I used TH fasteners for the drawer handles.
On the sides are mushrooms from Dylusions Shrooms stamp set & Crafty Individuals Crowned Bunnies.
The stencils I used were PaperArtsy, Donna Downey & TCW.
I’m really happy with this, my Brusho pots are inside & it’s sitting on my craft table.
Thanks so much to Karen for a lovely day.
Hello, happy Saturday-soon-be-Sunday. Today’s birthday card is for my crafting friend Chris & it’s bright. Very bright. Too bright? You decide. The seemingly endless grey days of January are getting to me, so I’ll take all the brightness I can get. 🙂
I put distress inks onto a stencil – PaperArtsy ELB001 – & put watercolour card on top. I dried the card & applied black gesso through the border section of the Dylusions Snow stencil, then added bottle cap circles with Old Gold Fresco Finish paint. I also added Glossy Accents to some of stencilled circles.
Stampotique’s Moth Fab was coloured with distress inks & a water brush. I used one of my mini alphabet stamp sets for the greeting & punched out the circles.
Happy birthday Chris, I hope you’ve enjoyed your day.
Thanks everyone for visiting my blog. I’ll end today by saying how thrilled & honoured I was when Kim Howard chose my Moth Fab Christmas card as one of her favourites from the SDC#176 challenge. Thanks so much Kim, I’m delighted to have the Stampotique favourites badge on my blog.
(Very) Belated Happy New Year to everyone, I hope January is treating you well. Since the start of the month I have been elbows deep in orders & DT projects – you can see my DT cards on Tuesdays & Fridays usually (often on Sundays & Mondays too) on the Lisa B Designs Inspiration blog – but I have a number of friends with birthdays this month, so I needed to make cards for them too. Today I’ll show you the card I made for Lin, whose birthday is today. I was so engrossed in making this that I completely forgot about taking photos.
I covered a square of white card with gesso & put another piece of card on top, ‘smooshing’ them together to create texture, then separating them & leaving them to dry. My idea was to build up layers of colour with Brusho crystals, but despite many attempts I couldn’t get a result I was happy with. I decided that I liked the very pale green & purple background left behind by wiping off the Brushos with a baby wipe, so I dried the card thoroughly & applied White Fire Treasure Gold all over it with my fingers, which I buffed with a soft cloth. The sheen is not showing up particularly well on my computer, but it did look nice.
I added stencilling – PaperArtsy ELB004 & JOFY007 Wendy Vecchi Dots & Stripes Borders – with Eggplant Fresco Finish paint & black gesso. I used bottle caps with FF Old Gold & black gesso for the circles.
I decided when I‘d finished the card that the border stencilling needed something more, so I covered a scrap of white card with Seedless Preserves distress ink, punched out the circles & glued them down, then applied clear Wink of Stella & Glossy Accents.
The greeting is from Tim Holtz’ #Hashtags stamp set.
Happy birthday Lin, I hope you’ve had a lovely day.
