Thank you to everyone for the kind comments on my samples for the launch of Darcy Wilkinson’s new stamps & stencils for PaperArtsy, it’s been an exciting two days. I want to do some blog posts on a few of my samples that I particularly like, so today I’m focusing on some of the tags.

I love this tall flower from EDY17 & used it a lot……………..

Favourite 5

I glued crumpled tissue on to a tag & painted it with layers of Baltic Blue, Smurf & China Fresco paints…………..

Stamped the circles from EDY17 with blue inks & blended some Baltic Blue Fresco paint in the centres of the darker circles……

I stamped the large flower twice on to Smoothy card, painted the centre with Tango & Cherry Red, cut it out & layered it on to the second flower. The smaller flowers from EDY17 were stamped with embossing ink directly onto the tag, heat set with white embossing powder & painted with Cherry Red Fresco………….

Favourite 5

I think I need to use kraft card more often as a substrate, I was surprised by how well the stencilling looked on this tag…………

I used the new PA stencil PS030 with Snowflake, Baltic Blue & Smurf Frescos………..

The flowers are from EDY18 & EDY 19, painted with Tango & Cherry Red…………….

Favourite 4

This was the first tag I made. I looked at the wings on set EDY17 & saw a pair of hands. The background is Cherry Red & Tango Frescos, blended with a damp baby wipe & stencilling with Snowflake through PS001. The butterfly from EDY19 & the ‘hands’ were painted with Cherry Red, Tango & China Frescos………..

A list of stockists of Darcy’s stamps & stencils can be found HERE.

Leandra did a fab demo on Periscope, using some of Darcy’s stamps & you can watch the replay HERE.

Thanks for looking.

PaperArtsy Launch: New Eclectica by Darcy

Published February 5, 2016 by isisimaginings

Hello, been a while since I was here, but if anything was going to persuade me to blog again, it was a request from Darcy to be one of her ‘wingmen’ for the launch of her new stamp sets & stencils for PaperArtsy – it took me all of two seconds to say “yes please, thank you very much!”

Tonight is launch night for Darcy’s new products & you can read all about it on the PaperArtsy blog.

Leandra has filmed a video, showing the new stencils & stamps, alongside samples from Darcy & my fellow wingmen, Gabrielle & Laura…………..

I worked with stamp sets EDY17, EDY18 & EDY19, the new stencils PS028, PS029 & PS030 & PaperArtsy Fresco paints; Baltic Blue, Smurf, China, Tango, Cherry Red, as well as Snowflake & Little Black Dress.

Darcy Samples 1

These are all the samples I made, most of them quite simple, as I wanted the images to stand out.

Darcy Samples 5

I loved working with the stamps & stencils. I told Darcy they made me think of the flora on an alien planet. (Yes, I am a sci-fi nerd). 🙂

Darcy Samples 4

There’s such a great mix of images in the stamp sets that they work perfectly with any style, from vintage/shabby chic to clean & simple. They also complement the other sets in Darcy’s Eclectica collection.

I’ll go into more detail on a few of these projects over the next few days, but for now I will end by thanking Leandra & Darcy for their generosity & encouragment, I thoroughly enjoyed being a PaperArtsy wingman.

Happy Birthday Hazel

Published May 3, 2014 by isisimaginings

Happy Saturday! And it’s a bank holiday weekend for some of us – yay!

Today my Twitter friend Hazel, aka @craftroomgran, celebrates her birthday so I thought I’d show you the card I made for her.

I began the background by gluing a piece of patterned paper to heavy card stock with matte gel medium. I coated the front too to protect the paper from all the paint etc..

Then I applied Grunge Paste through the PaperArtsy ELB006 stencil & when it was dry wiped Vintage Lace Fresco over the top with a baby wipe, followed by French Roast. LOTS of Florentine & White Fire Treasure Gold (my favourite combination at the moment) went on top.

I painted a kraft tag with Concrete & Vintage Lace Frescos. Applied Irish Cream through the ELB001 stencil & stamped the flower from  on top with Coffee Archival. I used a palette to apply GP around the edges, painted it with French Roast & Little Black Dress when it was dry then added Spanish Topaz TG. I did the same to the arch over the Lynne Perella image, which was stamped with Plum Archival, covered with Versamark & heat set with clear embossing powder.

To finish, I added some hessian & fabric flowers.

Happy birthday Hazel, I hope you have a lovely day.

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend, see you next time.

PaperArtsy Challenge – Inspired by Clare Lloyd

Published April 6, 2014 by isisimaginings

Happy Sunday afternoon to everyone. Yet again, there were amazing projects on the PaperArtsy blog this week. Clare Lloyd returned as the lead guest designer for the week & I’ve chosen to use her gorgeous & dramatic third project as my inspiration. I wanted to make her fantastic wooden spools garland, but I didn’t have enough spools – that will be a project for another day.

I was initially going to use my Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die, but then I remembered I had these chipboard pieces, which were a blog prize from PA last year.

I covered the chipboard square with gesso & a few coats of Cheesecake Fresco paint, stamped the PA quotes with black Archival. And then forgot to take any more photos. But I added grunge paste through a TCW 12×12 damask stencil – not my first choice, but none of my 6×6 stencils were suitable – and applied layers of Chartreuse Fresco with a baby wipe.

While working on the base I was thinking about the flower & wondering how to make it dimensional.  I used the chipboard piece as a template & drew around it three times on black card & cut them out. My plan was to use Little Black Dress Fresco as Clare had done, but when getting the bottle of Chartreuse I spotted the bottle of Pea Coat & I thought that would work for the flower, so I painted all the pieces with a few layers.  I remembered Jo Myhill’s lovely pot of tulips from last week on the PA blog &  I copied her idea of stamping & heat embossing on the petals, I also added Treasure Gold – Royal Amethyst & White Fire. Then I did some cutting & layering.

Here’s the finished flower.

And here’s the finished piece, the quote is from E Lin Brown 04.

I obviously wasn’t paying enough attention in the early stages of this, because I didn’t notice that bare patch in the centre until I put the flower on & now it might as well be screaming at me. But there’s nothing I can do now to cover it up. I think this will be taken apart, sanded down & redone at some point. Sigh.

Anyway, the PA challenge ends shortly, so I better get this published. Thanks for looking, see you next time.

Stamperama Sunday

Published August 11, 2013 by isisimaginings

Today was Stamperama day in Stevenage.  I love this craft show, it’s not too big, so there’s plenty of room to see everything.  And this time, I didn’t have to travel by train!  Georgina, who I know from the Lisa B Designs class drove there & she gave me a lift, it was wonderful.  Thank you Georgina!

Here are my purchases.  Most of them are from PaperArtsy, (look at those paint colours!!), but I had to have the gorgeous bird stamps by Neil Walker for The Artistic Stamper & I’ve wanted a chevron stamp for an age & a half.  The metal flowers & the set of arch dies were an absolute bargain & could NOT be ignored.

Here are the fabulous Leandra & Lin demoing their socks off on the PaperArtsy stand.  I could have stood watching them all day & pretty much did.

Here’s Leandra working with fresco paints & grunge paste.

Here she showed us how to build layers of fresco paints.  We all loved this fish.

Here’s the fish & below the finished piece, which Leandra presented to Helen.  Jealous, moi??? Winking smile

Here’s Lin.  She was demoing fresco paints  on her gorgeous range of stamps.  There were lots of “ooohs” as we watched her work.

The pics below are not good, I was looking over people’s shoulders.  The piece in the middle is the finished one from Lin’s demo above & either side are more of her beautiful samples.

I also spent time at The Artistic Stamper stand, where Jennie was showing us the new Dylusions Spray Ink Pad & mini Dylusions journal, by Dyan Reaveley.  Both of which, needless to say, are now on my wish list.  I was so engrossed watching Jennie, that I forgot to take any photos, which is a shame.

I had such a lovely time today.  It was great to spend time with fellow crafters & now I need to play with my new goodies………

Until next time,

Love & light.
